Local Government

Working with local government is a great way to move the needle on a smaller scale. Many causes close to home are very close to the heart. One example is land use. A great deal of environmental degradation has to do with early decisions pertaining to local land use planning. To read more about how these things are connected please click here.

Becoming involved in local government has been a gateway for many people who may not have seen themselves as being leaders. However, some people find their niche while working on behalf on one’s community by exercising their passion for the greater good.

If you are more introverted, you can still participate by diligently voting in local, state, and national elections (be sure to register). Directly communicating concerns to local government leaders is another potentially powerful expression of conscientious citizenry.
